Who makes the best pizza in Palm Coast?

What’s pizzeria per capita in Palm Coast? Did you know that for every 3,409 of us living in Palm Coast, there is just one pizza joint. We’re including chains here, too.

Is that satisfactory? Or should we call it measly? I think it’s fair to say that Palm Coasters like pizza as much as the happy people of any other city, so how are we being served? After all, it’s a certifiable fact that we have plenty of New York/tri-state transplants living among us.

So, before we get to the results of our poll, lets do some quick comparisons. Of course, it’d be silly to put Palm Coast up against a major pizza mecca like New York City — where so many of our pizza-loving tendencies come from — or even Chicago to get an idea on how we fare within the broader pizza joint picture. But how about a neighbor like Ormond? A friendly rivalry never hurts.

With a population of 40,000 people, Ormond has 52 pizza joints.

That’s one pizza joint per 762 people in Ormond Beach. So it’d seem that, as far as pizza is concerned, Palm Coast, at least next to our neighbor to the south, could be doing better when it comes to taking care of its citizens.

But, if you’re a Palm Coaster, you didn’t come to this article just to have Ormondite’ pizza ways rubbed in your face. You’re here because you wanted to learn who has the best pizza in Palm Coast, at least by way of majority opinion.

So here’s what we did. We asked the people……on Facebook, multiple times, with three polls taken over three separate years, 2012,2015 and 2016 — collating 195 votes, total.

Where were the poll questions asked?

On the I Love Palm Coast facebook page.

The final answer was pretty resounding!

However, some of the answers we got suggest that certain biases went beyond just pizza. Customer service, price, and maybe longevity also had bearing on the question.)

Ok, here’s the Top 10:

  • Mezzaluna
  • Joe’s NY Pizza and Pasta
  • Bruno’s Pizza
  • Napolis’s Pizzeria
  • Giabellia Restaurant and Pizzeria
  • Tony’s Pizza *
  • Terranova’s **
  • Sami’s Pizza
  • Focaccia
  • Manny’s NY Pizza

* We know Tonys in Flagler Beach. But folks added that on facebook.
** We know Terranova’s is in Bunnell. What can you do?

Mezzaluna led the pack with 30.8 percent of votes. Close-ish second was Joe’s New York with 26.2 percent.

Delicious Roman pizza at Focaccia

Focaccia made the top ten, but it landed towards the bottom, something that I, personally, vehemently disagree with! Focaccia offers the most unique pizza around.

Actually, on that same note, in the Facebook poll comments, some voters gave more challenging, yet thoughtful, responses to what seemed like an otherwise straight-forward question. Take Jim Caggiano’s 2015 comment, for example:

Mezzaluna for NY pizza, Focaccia for Roman pizza.

You see, it gets pretty deep.

Voting for your favorite pizza joint is kind of like voting for president, it can go any way. Though, if you ask me, I personally think the folks in Palm Coast came closer to getting the “best pizza” question right.

Oh, and if you didn’t vote, then don’t complain!! :)
